Focus Activities:

  • Bedtime for Bonzo! – Putting their favorite “peluche” to bed becomes a Spanish pretend session.
    • Let your child know that tonight is special. He gets to put his favorite “osito de peluche” to bed before him.
    • Encourage him to ask his “peluche” if he is tired.
      • ¿Estás cansado?
    • If he is then tuck him in and your child too.
    • If not have the “peluche” tell your child what he wants to do.
      • Quiero beber leche. Quiero tocar el violín. Quiero abrazar. Quiero leer un cuento. Quiero cantar una canción.
    • Let your child act out what the “peluche” said.
    • Once the “peluche” can’t think of anything else to do it is time for “dormirse”.
      • Be sure your child understands that his goal is put his stuffed animal to bed and help him fall asleep.
    • Encourage your child to act this routine out each night before his own bedtime. He will go to sleep with Spanish floating through his dreams.
    • Listen to bedtime pretend here.
  • Bedtime Brain Balance! – Great calming activity to use Spanish vocabulary.
    • Have your child lay down on the floor or in bed.
    • Give her her “peluche” or something safe to balance on her forehead.
    • While she is balancing the “peluche” ask her if she tired.
    • Then ask what she wants to do.
      • ¿Quieres tomar agua? ¿Quieres leer un cuento?
    • Let her answer each question while balancing her “peluche”.
      • Sí, quiero beber leche. No, no quiero tocar el violín.
    • See how many questions she can answer without letting the object she is balancing fall. Go for a new record number each day.
